As part of a larger exhibit recounting Missouri's unique role in the Civil War, the Missouri History Museum challenged me to create an interactive experience that allowed visitors to learn about the lives of six individuals and how they related to the war. For fun, after learning their stories, you get to choose whether or not you think they were loyal or disloyal to the Union. If they were accused of disloyalty, you get to choose their punishment.
I worked closely with the museum's curatorial team to understand the historical context and significance of each individual. I then designed and built an interactive experience that allowed visitors to explore their stories through a combination of text, images, video and audio. The final product was a touch-screen kiosk that allowed visitors to interact with the content in a fun and engaging way.
The project included both hardware and software components and I oversaw the entire process from concept to implementation.
Special consideration was given to the fact that the exhibit would be in a public space and needed to be durable, ADA-compliant and easy to use.
